At the end of the install process, your navigator should be open and should point to Freenet's user interface.

If you are trying to use the installer from behind a restricted network environement, it might fail (if you use a proxy server for instance). Here is the procedure to follow to force the installation.
  1. You need to fetch the node and the additional file.
  2. Choose the "offline" installation mode on the first screen of the installer
  3. Give the location of the manually downloaded files during step 2 of the installation process
That should work fine almost everywhere.

Wait a few seconds and then visit http://127.0.0.1:8888/ in your web browser to access Freenet's user interface.

When it is done it will tell you. Click Exit and after a few seconds Freenet will start up. You should also get a web page some up telling you it was successful and what to do next.

Go to http://freenetproject.org/index.php?page=download-new

Windows


If you are running a version of Windows, click on the run freenet-webinstall link under the Windows heading.

The dialog boxes that come up should be fairly self-explanatory, click Next through them all and it should install Freenet.

Mac OS X, Linux, Unix


If you are running Mac OS X, Linux, or Unix, click on the run freenet-webinstall link under the Mac OSX, Unix, and Linux heading, or at the commandline type:

javaws http://downloads.freenetproject.org/alpha/installer/freenet.jnlp


Accept the security certificate when it prompts you (if you are happy with it!).

Choose beginner from the next dialog box and click Next.

Click Next to accept the licensing terms.

Choose the directory in which you want to install Freenet, make up a name for your node and click Next.

It should offer you Congratulations if it all went smoothly. Click Next.

Click Install. It will take a few minutes to download and install Freenet 0.7


Wait a few seconds and then visit http://127.0.0.1:8888/ in your web browser to access Freenet's user interface.
