Applications
Several third party applications are already available for Freenet 0.7, some of which are hosted by the Freenet Project.
Warning: Applications designed for use with Freenet 0.5 will not work with Freenet 0.7.
- Frost - a message board and file-sharing application for Freenet (bundled in the Freenet installer).
- jSite - a user-friendly website insertion tool written in Java by Bombe.
- FUQID - a user-friendly queued file upload and download tool written by mxbee. Unfortunately it is Windows specific.
- Thaw is a FUQID replacement written in Java, and now a file-sharing application. Works with Windows, Linux, MacOSX, etc. (bundled in the Freenet installer)
- fntool∞ - a Java-based command-line utility for adding and retrieving files from Freenet.
- Freenet Console - commandline control of Freenet.
- Freemail - Email for Freenet
- Refbot - A way to get other references automatically with a IRC bot written in Python.
Plugins
Freenet is designed to allow developers to write their own plugins∞.
- Librarian - creates a search engine based off a Freenet index site.
- Test Gallery - allows the autocreation of galleries based on a Freenet Key. (?)
- SNMP - enables SNMP support in the node.
- Spider - creates a Freenet index site that can be used by the Librarian plugin.
- MDNSDiscovery - advertises resources provided by freenet on the network using ZeroConf/Bonjour/Rendez-Vous.
- HelloWorld - display hello world into wrapper.log on a regular basis.
User experience
This section discusses how Freenet 0.7 will be used when complete.
