The Definitive Spider Plugin
To activate this plugin in your node, follow these simple steps:
- Head over to http://localhost:8888/plugin/. Note that this is not the “Plugins” link in the navigation bar, so you have to change the URL in the address bar of your browser. (Yes, this will change in the future.)
- In the “Add plugin” box, enter “freenet.clients.http.Spider” (without the quotes).
- Press “Add plugin.” :)
Now the plugin should be shown in the plugin list. Press the “Visit” button to see the URIs it has already spidered.
Every ten seconds the plugin writes out a file called “index.new” to the current directory of the node (usually the directory you started the node from, or the directory the configuration file resides in). This file contains URI and word lists and can be used with the LibrarianPlugin.
That’s all there is to this plugin. It is automatically started with you node until you unload it (using the appropriate button). Reloading a plugin is the same as unloading a plugin and then loading it again (for coders: the old instance is stopped, a new instance is created and started).
